Phoenix, our “Poster Child”, was the first special needs animal helped by Shelter Pet Alliance. In December 2004, Phoenix came to the Oakdale Animal Shelter with a badly broken leg. This stoic little guy would not make it out of the shelter alive without intervention.One look at those soulful brown eyes, and volunteers decided the young sheltie mix deserved another chance. Oakdale Veterinary Group helped with a generous discount for surgery. Phoenix had his damaged leg amputated and is now getting along fine, and living with his adoptive family.

Shelter Pet Alliance* is a grass roots non-profit organization dedicated to helping improve and upgrade the lives of pets residing at the Oakdale Animal Shelter. We also offer assistance to other individuals and organizations who provide rescue support for shelter animals in need.Cats and dogs stay healthier with vaccinations against deadly diseases supplied by Shelter Pet Alliance. Kuranda dog beds provided for the kennels keep dogs off the cold concrete floor and, and offer a comfortable place to rest. Additional supplies and improvements help further enhance the lives of the animals and reduce the stress of shelter living.
Healthy happy pets have a better chance of adoption and finding a loving forever home.
